Your people, your pace

Private rides for couples, families, and small groups

Every ride at Rancho Baile de la Luna is private to your group. We take one to four riders at a time, never mixed with strangers, from $1,200 MXN per person, 20 minutes outside San Miguel de Allende.

Private by default, not as an upgrade

Many operators sell "private" as a premium add-on. Here it is simply how we ride. Your booking is your ride: your family, your friends, or just you. The pace adjusts to the least experienced rider, the stops happen when your group wants them, and the photos do not have strangers in them.

The people you will see on the trail are ours. Roberto, our caballerango, guides nearly every ride, and Chris or Jeff, or both, usually come along. Once in a while someone who boards or leases a horse here rides out with the group as well. If you would rather keep it strictly to your own party, tell us when you book and that is how it goes out.

Good for

  • Couples, especially the sunset ride.
  • Families with riders 12 and up, or 10 for a child who is mature and has had enough lessons to control a horse alone. Younger children are welcome for a lesson or a pony ride in the arena instead. We do not put two riders on one horse.
  • Friends visiting San Miguel who want campo, village, and a cold drink at the tienda.
  • Solo travelers, we will take one rider, which most places will not.

Groups larger than four split into two rides or two departures, so nobody ever rides in a crowd. Message us and we will arrange it.

Quick questions
I am traveling alone. Can I still ride?

Yes. We will take a single rider, which many ranches will not. Our groups are one to four riders, never a busload, so riding alone here does not mean tagging along with strangers. It means the trail, the guide, and the campo to yourself.

Can kids ride?

Yes, with one honest limit. For trail rides we ask that riders be 12 or older, or 10 if the child is mature and has had enough riding lessons to control a horse on their own. Out on the trail a child needs to be able to handle their own horse, and we would rather say so than put a young rider somewhere they are not ready for.

Younger children are still very welcome. They can take a lesson or have a pony ride in the arena, where we are right beside them the whole time. Roberto teaches children's lessons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and has a real gift with young riders: patient, safe, and encouraging. Tell us your child's age when you write and we will tell you honestly what fits.

How much is a horseback ride in San Miguel de Allende?

At Rancho Baile de la Luna a one-hour trail ride is $1,200 MXN, an hour and a half is $1,400 MXN, and two hours is $1,600 MXN, per rider. Groups are one to four riders, and single riders are welcome. That is deliberately simpler and less expensive than the all-day deluxe tours most operators sell.

How do I book?

Message us on WhatsApp at +1 909 240 4981, which is the fastest way, or use the contact form and we will get back to you, usually the same day. A day or two of notice is plenty for most rides. US guests who do not use WhatsApp can text the same number.
