Horseback riding in San Miguel de Allende

You arrive at a real working ranch in Atotonilco, meet your horse by name, and ride out with Roberto, our caballerango of more than thirty years. The trails cross open campo, mesquite and cactus, the village of San Miguelito, and in the longer rides, the river and the Presa de los Torres. The kids in the village come running because riders from this ranch carry lollipops. That is not a marketing line. It is a tradition.

Roberto guides nearly every ride, and Chris or Jeff, or both, usually come along too. Now and then someone who boards or leases a horse here rides out with us as well. The ride is still yours, so if you would rather it be just your group, say so when you book and that is what it will be. Rides go out in the morning, apart from the sunset ride.

Most horseback tours in San Miguel de Allende run large groups on all-day packages. We deliberately do the opposite: one to four riders, an honest hour or two, at an honest price. We will take a single rider, which most operators will not. The ranch sits at San Miguelito 10, El Fresno, Atotonilco, about 20 minutes from the center of San Miguel de Allende and minutes from the Santuario de Atotonilco, the UNESCO World Heritage site. Most guests come by taxi or Uber; tell us when you book and we will send the pin.
